ASTM A240 1D Surface Inox S31603 316L Stainless Steel Plate
SS 316L PLATE ASTM A240 316L Stainless Steel Plate NO.1 Finished 2000mm Width
In ASTM A240, type 316 and 316L is a chromium nickel austenitic steel. The addition of molybdenum enhances corrosion resistance, making 316/316L more corrosion resistant than 304/304L. While 316L has lower carbon content, its strength is only slightly higher than 316 steel. Grade 316L is often comparable to 316 grade and is particularly suitable for weld treatment due to its lower carbon content.
316/316L steel offers outstanding corrosion resistant properties in both atmospheric and oxidizing environments, including marine atmospheres. It maintains excellent corrosion resistance in welded states. Typically non-magnetic in annealed condition, cold drawing or cold rolling processes may introduce slight magnetism, which can be addressed through further processing.
Applications of ASTM A240 316/316L
- Manufacturing products exposed to salt water and acids
- Applications involving sulfuric acid and chloride exposure
- Petrochemical and chemical processing equipment
- High-heat applications including engines and motors
- Tanks, supports, frames, enclosures, and housings
- Engine, motor and machinery components and parts
